BACP-BLUE Meeting Minutes July 7, 2025 Review the BACP-BLUE Gaza peace vigils held on Saturday, June 7 and Saturday, July 5. June 7th-5 participants July 5th-4 participants Review the "No Kings" Rally hosted by Brainerd Lakes Area Indivisible on Saturday, June 14. The Brainerd "No Kings" Rally, part of a nationwide day of "No Kings" rallies and marches protesting President Trump's reactionary agenda and abuses of power, drew over 2,000 people, likely making it the largest protest held in Brainerd's history. Many BACP-BLUE members joined the Brainerd "No Kings" Rally. Nationally, 12.14 million people participated. Review the No War on Iran vigils held in Baxter on Sunday, June 22 and Pine River on Monday, June 23. (Fellow BACP-BLUE member Trish Miller and a fellow Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Fellowship member held the Pine River vigil.) Brainerd-5 participants, Pine River-2 participants Review BACP-BLUE marching in the Brainerd Fourth of July parade on Friday, July 4. Ten people marched. We received mostly positive responses. Discuss plans for the BACP-BLUE Crow Wing County Fair booth. The Crow Wing County Fair will be held from Tuesday, July 29 through Saturday, August 2. The BACP-BLUE Crow Wing County Fair booth will be open between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. every day of the fair. There are about 150 buttons left from last year and Trish will get the button machine and supplies from Elaine and make more buttons for this year. Richard will send the sign-up sheet out tomorrow. Richard will set the booth up the Monday morning before the fair starts. Discuss plans for BACP-BLUE hosting a table at Pride in the Park on Saturday, September 13. Pride in the Park will be held in Gregory Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Brainerd Lakes Pride, a Brainerd area LGBTQ rights group, hosts Pride in the Park. BACP hosted a table at Pride in the Park in 2021, 2022, and 2023. BACP-BLUE hosted a table in 2024. Application and $50 fee has been sent in by Gayle. Set dates for the August BACP-BLUE meeting and Gaza peace vigil Due to the fair being the first Saturday in August, the Gaza vigil will be Saturday, August 9th at 1:00 p.m. on the corner of 371 and 210. Next membership meeting will be Monday, August 4th at 7:00 p.m. at Gregory Park. Camp Ripley Community Day is Sunday, September 14th. At this event, the military is glamorized and white washed and much of it directed at children and youth. We will have the float and other anti-war messages there and are expecting peach activists from the cities to join us. Doug is working on a flyer, enlisting the help of an acquaintance in the Anti-War Committee. Event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is $363.90 in the treasury.
